Champagne & Sparkling

Champagne DUVAL-LEROY

Champagne DUVAL-LEROY was founded in 1859 when two Champagne families came together to share their interest in wine making. Since its creation, Champagne DUVAL-LEROY has been located in Vertus, in the heart of La Cote des Blancs. Currently the House cultivates about 200 hectares, much of which is devoted to the production of high quality chardonnay grapes.

The predominance of chardonnay in the elaboration of the cuvees gives a finesse, lightness and elegance to DUVAL-LEROY champagnes. Headed by Carol DUVAL-LEROY since 1991, the company is one of the few remaining 100% family owned major Champagne firms and is ranked in the 15 top Champagne houses. DUVAL-LEROY’s range of champagnes includes the Fleur de Champagne Brut, Rose de Saignee, Vintage and Femme de Champagne.

Croser

The Daniel Le Brun range includes the Non Vintage, Vintage and Blanc de Blanc.

Gosset

Gosset is the oldest wine house in Champagne, with beginnings dating back to 1584 – when Pierre Gosset, alderman of Aÿ and wine grower, made still mostly red wines from the grapes he harvested from his own vines. In those days, Burgundy and Champagne vied for pride of place at the table of the Kings of France. In fact the reputation of the wine of Aÿ was such that François the First had his own winery built there, which is now owned by Champagne Gosset.

In the 18th century the wine made in and around Aÿ began to bubble, and the Gosset family turned naturally to the production of champagne. Today, Gosset continues to be made in the time honoured traditional methods including hand harvesting of grapes and manual riddling. The blends are made with the best villages (crus) of the Marne region (Grands Crus and Premiers Crus) with an average classification of 95% on the official cru scale.

Gosset champagnes are well known and revered by champagne connoisseurs around the world, and poured in some of the most prestigious restaurants and hotels globally. The Gosset range includes the Excellence Brut, Grande Reserve Brut, Grand Rose Brut, Grand Millesime Brut and the Celebris Vintage Extra Brut.

Martini

The Martini story begins with the label’s Roman ancestors, who perfected the ancient art of blending wine with Mediterranean herbs. Over time the Northern Italian region of Piedmont became the centre of this craft – The Alps and fertile soils a rich source of herbs and the cool climate providing light, delicate wines. Later in the Middle Ages, Italian merchants brought rare and exotic botanicals to the port of Genova, creating more complex and distinct aromatic wines.

Martini was born from a partnership between two skilled men, Alessandro Martini and Luigi Rossi, who together shared a vision to produce a unique product that would represent the very best in Italian quality and style. Throughout time they sought to create a new formulation for a smoother, more consistent style of aromatic wine. In 1863 they launched their masterpiece to global acclaim and the new company of Martini came into being.

Mondoro

Mondoro Asti is an Asti sparkling wine of superior quality. Asti is set in the gently rolling hills of Piedmont, Northern Italy – where the craggy limestone soil is ideal for growing grapes. Made from 100% Moscato grapes, it has a high acidity to help balance its sweetness. Mondoro was created from a passion to deliver pleasure, luxury and self indulgence to lovers of sparkling wine. Mondoro Asti, rich in flavour and superior elegance, was immediately embraced both outside and inside of Italy and is considered one of the most prestigious sweet sparkling wines in the world.

Nicolas Feuillatte

In 1976, French businessman, former diplomat and eternal member of the New York celebrity jetset, Nicolas Feuillatte, returned to Champagne to establish this extraordinary brand. In 1986 he forged a partnership with Centre Vinicole, which resulted in unparalleled success in the champagne market – with the Nicolas Feuillatte range now distributed in over 83 countries and listed as one of the top three best selling champagnes globall

The Centre Vinicole growers supply grapes from 2,200 hectares of vines, including more than 450 located in plots that are classed Premier and Grand Cru. The vineyard covers 13 of the 17 Grands Crus in the Champagne area, 33 of the 42 Premiers Crus and 190 of the 321 other crus in the appellation. The Cellar Master and his team of oenologists therefore have an incredibly rich aromatic palette at their disposal. Rooted in exuberance and impertinence and 30 years young, Nicolas Feuillatte is truly the leading edge 21st century champagne.

Palmes d’Or

Palmes d’Or is the fulfilment of a wild dream, with all the energy and perseverance Nicolas Feuillatte is renowned for. A dream where the creation of this sublime champagne was the ultimate proof of his love for his Diva. He was going to create his exceptional Cuvée in the image of his Diva: extravagant, fantastic, sublime and unforgettable. A special bottle inspired him the same way the Diva was inspired by black pearls. Rare and precious, in her eyes these jewels were more original than diamonds, bewitching with their lustre and mystery. The imprint of pearls on glass was the inspiration for this unique bottle. It took such a unique story to create such a different champagne bottle. The blending of the greatest and best vintages quickly bore its fruit. Sublime in quality and divinely extravagant.

The Palmes d’Or range includes a Brut Vintage and a Rose Vintage.

Riccadonna

Riccadonna bottleRiccadonna is produced in the Piedmont region of Northern Italy and is made entirely from Moscato Bianco varietal grapes grown within the confines of the Asti zone of origin. The Riccadonna range includes an Asti NV and Ruby NV.

New Zealand Still Wines

Burnt Spur

Burnt Spur bottleBurnt Spur is a range of single vineyard wines made by the highly acclaimed Martinborough Vineyard. The wines are the result of dedicated teamwork and a commitment to producing consistently high quality wines. These are wines of balance and complexity – there are no compromises. The range of wines reflects the country’s ‘hot’ varietals of Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and Sauvignon Blanc.

Kings Series

Amongst the twisted vines of our ancestry were the families de Marisco, who in the 12th and 13th centuries inhabited (in part) the island of Lundy off the south-west coast of England. The family, from their stronghold on the island, maintained a tempestuous relationship with the monarchy – at times receiving royal favour, and yet ultimately for piracy and treason, incurring the full and tragic vehemence of the King’s displeasure. These days, the descendant Marris family have achieved acclaim for their success in the pursuit of fine wine making, and were amongst the pioneering winemaking families of the world renowned Marlborough wine region. The King Series label honours this glorious family history by naming a series of wines (Favour Sauvignon, Bastard Chardonnay, Thorn Pinot Gris and Wrath Pinot Noir) after the stories of their scandalous ancestors.

Kopiko Bay

Kopiko roughly translated from Maori means ‘meander or wander’. Uniquely New Zealand, Kopiko Bay wines are crafted in this spirit and made for leisurely enjoyment with or without food. The range includes four of New Zealand’s favourite grape varieties (Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir) and is exclusive to hotels, restaurants, bars and cafés.

Mahi

Mahi, meaning ‘our work our craft’, began in 2001 as a new venture for winemaker Brian Bicknell and his wife Nicola. With a strong focus on single-vineyard wines from Marlborough, the Mahi label respects and promotes the individuality of the various vineyards, their soils and aspects. All the vines have been low-cropped, hand-picked and fermented in the winery with as little intervention as possible. The Mahi range includes the Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, Boundary Farm Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc, Twin Valleys Vineyard Gewurztraminer and Chardonnay, Ward Farm Pinot Gris and the Rive Vineyard Pinot Noir.

Margrain

Margrain bottleThe Margrain family’s winemaking philosophy is straight-forward – to produce the very best wines they can, without compromise. This task begins each year with pruning and ends only when the wine is in the bottle. Low yields of between 1.5 and 2 tonnes per acre are an essential part of this strategy to truly express vineyard character. Martinborough, the most famous wine growing area of the Wairarapa district, has rightly earned its place as a producer of some of New Zealand’s finest wines and Margrain can be very proud of its range – which includes a Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Riesling and two Pinot Noirs.

Martinborough Vineyard

The Martinborough appellation has free draining soils and experiences cool climate conditions with long summers and low rainfall, comparable with Burgundy. Vines aged to 30 years, a diversity of clones, and an emphasis on balance in the vineyard all contribute to the complexity and structure of the wines. The Martinborough Vineyard range includes a Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and a Pinot Noir as well as a Pinot Noir Rose and two Rieslings. The Martinborough Vineyard also produces the Te Tera label, which offers a Sauvignon Blanc and a Pinot Noir.
