Our Success

Lion Nathan champions some of the most adored brands in beer, fine wine and spirits across Australia and New Zealand.

Performance

Lion Nathan is a high performing, brand-building company.

Tooheys Neon logoIn Australia, we boast three out of the top five beer brands in the country – including XXXX GOLD, Tooheys New and Tooheys Extra Dry – and some of the nation’s fastest growing beer brands, such as Hahn Super Dry and Boag’s Draught [Nielsen, April 2010]. We have been credited with pioneering the mid-strength beer category with XXXX GOLD – now the second largest beer brand in the country – and also lead the low alcohol category, with our products accounting for more than half its volume [Nielsen, April 2010].

In New Zealand we are the leading brewer, with six of the top 10 beer brands in the country – including Lion Red, brands from the Speight’s, Steinlager and Mac’s trademarks, and regional brands such as Waikato Draught and Canterbury Draught. Beyond beer, we also have a vast range of internationally recognised spirits that we bottle, market and distribute locally.

Innovation

We have a focused innovation strategy that allows us to continue delivering great brands to our customers and consumers, while driving value in our business.

In recent years, we have driven value growth in our core beer markets through best practice marketing investment and a steady focus on innovation – with 10 per cent of FY09 net sales revenue generated by new products launched in the last three years in Australia, and 15.4 per cent in New Zealand.

Continued investment in our core assets will help ensure ongoing business success and market leadership.

Brewing Credentials

With around 90 per cent of our assets in our two core brewing businesses in Australia and New Zealand, our success relies on the high standards we maintain across our brands, our systems and our production facilities. We are proud of our brewing heritage, which dates back to the 1800s, and actively invest in consistently improving and innovating for the future. We do this by building the capability of our people, modernising our production sites, and ensuring that no matter what, we’re always producing great beers.
